I live in Puerto Rico and had been doing some research on coming back to the U.S. and getting a thermal done. After carefully scouring countless message boards, yelp reviews and soliciting people's opinions, I realized getting a thermal is no joke. There were horror stories about people whose hair was falling out afterwards, etc. I knew I had to pick carefully. My friend call Stephanie Rider and ask about her straightening service.
She explained that she offers a free consultation before ever performing any straightening service. She does a strand test on anyone who wants a thermal. She told me generally she has to turn down about 6 out of 10 people after the strand test because she refuse to do the thermal on anyone if its going to destroy their hair. Considering what I had read on the message boards about thermals, I very much appreciated her commitment to running an ethically sound business and her legitimate concerns over giving people an end product they will be pleased with rather than just trying to generate revenue.
Besides being committed to doing a great job, she is also a pleasure to be around. She spent the three hours chatting, laughing, etc. By the time I left I felt like I had made a great new friend.
The end product? Unbelievable. I have always had wavy, kinky, hard to manage hair. Now it is silky, smooth, and takes only minutes to do in the mornings. I don't even have to use my flat iron anymore. It is a dream come true and, as many of these posts have said as well, it really is life changing. The service, experience and end product were of such value to me that when I have to get my roots touched up in about 6 months or so, I will be flying back to do so. Stephanie does an incredible job. Do yourself a favor and go to her. You'll be happy you did.
Stephanie worked your magic on my mixed race frizzy hair! I am mixed race and have had perms from black hair salons. The results were horrible. I hated my hair because it was dry as well as damaged . One day I enough and started searching the web for straighteners, I came across Stephanie's website. I started reading about the different straighteners: Brazilian Keratin and Thermal. I could not believe it could be used on my hair. So, called Stephanie to find out more information about the differences of the two straightening services. She explained that the products she used were safe and would not damage my hair. I asked her so many questions and she had an answer for all of them. I made an appointment and had the service done. After 2 day I shampooed my hair I was amazed! My hair bounced, moved, felt great and it was straight.... Love love love her...
Stephanie is the best! Absolutely the best! I have now had four Thermal Hair Straightening done by them and I can tell you that I won't be going anywhere else! I recently moved to NYC from Charlotte, but I will be making the trip back solely for the purposes of getting my hair re-straightened by her. I've had completely flawless results from their Japanese/Thermal Straightener. Prior to going to Stephanie, I had been to other salons for the straightening and my hair didn't turn out nearly as nice. Echoing another reviewer, THANK GOD for the "Stephanie Rider!"
